Lavender is one of the most widely used and versatile oils in aromatherapy. A true essential for any first aid kit, it’s especially effective for soothing irritated skin, reducing inflammation, and supporting the healing of burns and scars. Renowned for its calming and relaxing qualities, lavender also helps ease headaches and insomnia, while offering relief from throat infections, colds, and flu.

Key Properties:

·         Antiseptic and anti-inflammatory

·         Gentle, soothing aroma

·         Alleviates headaches

·         Supports recovery from colds and flu

·         Promotes restful sleep

How to use

This essential oil is a highly concentrated active ingredient of the plant Lavandula angustifolia. Essential oils should always be diluted in a base before use and should not be taken internally without professional recommendation.

  • Baths: Add 5 - 10 drops of essential oil(s) to a warm bath. If skin is sensitive, dilute the essential oil in a teaspoon of carrier oil (e.g. olive, avocado, grapeseed) before adding it to the bath. Close the door so the aromas don't escape. Soak for at least 10 minutes breathing deeply, enjoying the calming atmosphere. For added moisturising blend the oils in 10ml of carrier oil first.
  • Massage: add 5 - 6 drops of essential oil per 10ml of carrier oil. Mix well and massage into the skin.
  • Burners and Diffusers: Fill the bowl of the burner with water and add 3 - 6 drops of essential oil. Light the candle and the oil will disperse an aroma in the air as the water heats up. Do not let the bowl dry out. Do the same for a diffuser: fill it with water and add 3 - 6 drops of essential oil. Do not let it run out of water.

Caring for Your Essential Oils

SOil essential oils and carrier oils are delicate, natural products that can be affected by exposure to heat, moisture, air, and light. To preserve their quality, it's best to store them in a cool, dark environment with the lids tightly sealed. If your refrigerator is the only cool storage option, let the oils return to a moderate room temperature (approximately 20°C) before using them.
